Review: Diary of a Wimpy Kid #11: "Double Down" by Jeff Kinney

November 20, 2016

Title: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Double Down

Author: Jeff Kinney

Page Count: 224

Summary:

The pressure's really piling up on Greg Heffley. His mom thinks video games are turning his brain to mush, so she wants her son to put down the controller and explore his "creative side."

As if that's not scary enough, Halloween's just around the corner and the frights are coming at Greg from ever angle.

When Greg discovers a bag of gummy worms, it sparks an idea. Can he get his mom off his back by making a movie...and will he become rich and famous in the process? Or will doubling down on this plan just double Greg's troubles?

Other books in the Series:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Rodrick Rules, The Last Straw, Dog Days, The Ugly Truth, Cabin Fever, The Third Wheel, Hard Luck, The Long Haul, Old School, and The Getaway

Our review:

I didn't really think this one was as good as the other Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. For one, the movie part of the book only lasts for a few pages, so if that's why you're getting it, you may want to change your mind. Also, the majority of this book doesn't have much plot. It's kind of just Greg writing about things that happened before the book for 224 pages. However, this book was hilarious, so if you don't care about plot but want to laugh your head off, then go ahead! Check it out! But I personally like books with plot, and this book did not have much of it.

The Bottom Line: Hilarious, but lacking plot.
